Variable data printing QR codes that stay editable
Packaging and print producers need many unique codes, generated fast, that can each be repointed later without a reprint. redireo’s bulk API creates up to 500 serialized dynamic codes per request, and every one of them stays editable after it goes on the line.
How many codes can one request create?
The bulk endpoint generates up to 500 unique serialized dynamic codes per API request. Each is a distinct code with its own short link and its own destination, so a serial number, batch, or individual unit can each resolve somewhere different. The control API is the product API, so the same request path that creates codes also reads and edits them.
Can a printed code be changed without reprinting?
Yes — that is the point of a dynamic code. The printed image encodes a short link, not the final destination, so the artwork on the pack is permanent while the destination behind it stays editable. If a landing page moves, a recall notice is needed, or a campaign changes after a run has shipped, you repoint the code instead of pulling and reprinting stock.
What is driving demand for per-item codes right now?
Regulation is a large part of it. The EU Digital Product Passport is pushing brands toward per-item digital identifiers, with the battery requirement dated 18 February 2027, and similar traceability expectations are spreading across other categories. That is useful context for planning capacity — but it is context, not a compliance claim. redireo is a general dynamic-QR and variable-data tool. It does not implement GS1 Digital Link or certify Digital Product Passport compliance, and we will not imply otherwise; confirm the exact standard your programme has to meet.
Does the cost scale with the number of codes?
No. redireo is billed on scans, not on how many codes you generate, so a large serialized run does not multiply your bill by unit count. Business is $149 a month for 2,000,000 scans and 2,000 codes, with overage at $5 per 100,000 scans, and Enterprise adds unlimited codes. If a run needs a higher code ceiling than a plan includes, talk to us before you print.
Packaging and print questions
How many QR codes can I generate in one API request?
redireo’s bulk endpoint creates up to 500 unique serialized dynamic codes per request. Each one is a separate editable code with its own destination, so every unit, batch, or serial number can point somewhere different.
Can I change a code after the packaging is printed?
Yes. Every code encodes a short link, so the printed image is permanent while the destination stays editable. You can redirect a run after it has shipped without reprinting anything.
Does redireo make my codes compliant with the EU Digital Product Passport?
No, and we will not claim it does. The EU Digital Product Passport — whose battery requirement is dated 18 February 2027 — is driving demand for per-item digital identifiers. redireo does provide a GS1 Digital Link resolver on your own domain (see our regulated-products and DPP solution), but that is the resolver layer, not the compliance: it does not certify DPP regulatory compliance, and registering a passport identifier where a regulation requires it stays with the manufacturer. Check the specific standard your programme requires.
How does pricing work at print-run scale?
You are billed on scans, not on how many codes you generate. Business is $149 a month for 2,000,000 scans and 2,000 codes, and scans over the allowance cost $5 per 100,000. Enterprise adds unlimited codes for larger serialized runs — talk to us if a run needs a higher code ceiling.
